A Typical Weekday

Several folks have asked, so we thought it might be good to give you an outline of a typical school day here. In an overview, it may not seem as tiring as it actually feels.

I can't believe it's been so long since we last submitted a blog entry!

Here it goes:
* awake and moving by 7:00am
* QT, get ready for school and "pre-school-study" or finish homework, cram for the day's test (weekly)
* breakfast at 8:00, start walking the 1+ mile over narrow, undulating sidewalks and streets by 8:30am
* class: 9:00-11:15ish - all taught and drilled in French (that's immersion!)
* coffee break for 15 minutes
* class till 12:30pm, adding homework assignments at the very end
* walk about trying to decide on lunch and then eating it, plenty of "fast food" French style around, but not many inexpensive choices. Ann eats little or nothing for lunch. Charlie almost always needs a sandwich, at least.
* walk "home"
* study, review, do homework assignments and catch up on email
* dinner with host family at 7:30pm
* final study time or French conversation with host family and/or catch international news on French TV
* study-weary, lights out at 11:00pm-ish

Weekends are a bit less intense but filled with church, walk-about outings, meeting/sharing with other students, doing some homework, etc. We walk A LOT!

This week we'll have an exam similar to the national S.A.T. in French proficiency "Level 1". So, it we'll rachet up the study and review intensity a notch! I'm reminded of the one liner: "As long as their are exams, there will be prayer in schools."

Captivated by God's grace, Charlie
